Amid the Stygian gloom looms a ghostly presence – but don’t be spooked. You may have had one-too-many drams of Ardbeg & Auchentoshan from the bar’s fine range of malts, but that really is an illuminated monarch of the glen stalking the corridors of upscale Albannach’s funked-up cellar bar-cum-nightclub. Glossy gals sip bubbly from £42, & get fruity with passionata (a passion fruit & cassis Champagne cocktail at £9); otherwise, whisky-based hits are the thing – perhaps pear sour, Rob Roy or Goldfinger (a uisge beatha martini fit for a bonus-waving bond trader). Feet get funky to soul jazz & Latin until late, but don’t expect much in the way of Highland jigging. There are also live sessions on Thursdays: note that a cover charge & minimum spend may apply.
