Simplicity rules at this buzzy gastropub, where a seasonal menu offers gutsy food based on a few well-sourced ingredients. From fish dishes involving pollock & mackerel – great alternatives to overfished cod & sea bass – through to slow-cooked pork belly with baby turnips, orange & lovage, it’s all good, honest stuff & richly satisfying. Service is relaxed but professional & the wine list, like the two set-price menus, offers exceptionally good value. Pavement alfresco in lively Exmouth Market is a further plus in summer.
