Square Meal review of The Lock:
Neither its location in an anonymous office building in Tottenham Marshes nor its chunky unclothed tables betray the Lock’s serious gastronomic intentions. But though the menu doesn’t baffle with fancy terms, the food is accomplished, from an amuse-bouche of creamy corn soup through to mains of guinea fowl with braised lettuce & poached fig neatly accessorised with chicken mousse dumplings wrapped in cabbage leaves, or a juicy chunk of barracuda with perfect chunky chips. Desserts are equally unconventional, as witnessed in pannacotta paired with spiced grilled pineapple & a syrup-soaked Madeleine. Service is laid-back but competent, prices are fair & most diners conclude that it’s ‘out of the way but worth a visit’. There’s a car park, too.
