Square Meal Review of Favela London ?

What was Favela Chic has been renamed Favela London, but it has lost none of its infectious atmosphere along the way. High-ceilinged, & packed with religious icons, this temple to the caipirinha delivers shabby-chic funk in spades, with boho artefacts dotted all around & a range of live music & DJs on stage from Tuesday to Saturday. The venue also gets through a whopping 150kg of limes a week, but puts them to perfect use, serving up various exotic incarnations of caipirinhas, caipirovskas (made with vodka, not cachaça) & mojitos. If it all gets a bit steamy inside, the outdoor terrace is the ideal spot to try one of the recent additions to the drinks list. The food stays loyal to Brazil, & there’s a new afternoon tapas menu, too.

The place has an original decor, not as interesting as Favela Chic -Paris but original nevertheless.

Favela Chic in London has been an awful experience throughout. It was made worse because most of us knew the origins of this place, from the first one which opened in Paris.

A Brazilian would be ashamed of the tasteless food served in this place, using the Brazilian tag. The staff is rude, obnoxious and unhelpful. The food is expensive, tasteless and served cold. If you are not a quick eater don't bother booking a table for dinner over there. We were in a group of 15 people having dinner and some of us couldn't finish our meals before being invited to leave the table in a very impolite manner. When we've got the bill we could see we were being overcharged but, unfortunately, we were not given the time to check the bill as the rude manager came to our table at least three times and started physically moving some of us away and asking for the payment. We've felt like cows being pushed on a conveyor belt to the butchers. No chance of dialogue with the staff. Any complaint and you are threatened to be throw out.

The music was mediocre and drinks were expensive.

I would not recommend this place to anybody.

This is by far the best club in east London! Music and people are mixed, mature and fun, very few Shoreditch twats here. Last week our small group decided to have dinner before, and we were pleasantly suprised, really fresh and hearty food, and the service was also attentive and smiley! Best thing is that the cocktail menu has expended, the sugar rush all becomes a bit too much after your their caipirinha! So we are definatly coming for dinner again!
