Square Meal review of Mika:
Like its pop star namesake, Mika is fresh, talented & very funky. The decor is sleek, minimal & bright, with splashes of pink neon & a big chrome counter to enliven the cafe-style sharing tables. Straightforward nigiri sushi – salmon, prawn, eel – is available, though the menu’s focus is on sushi rolls; top choices are the crunchy & creamy soft-shell crab futomaki & the explosively spicy scallop temaki. Elsewhere are good-value mixed sushi sets, a brief selection of sashimi (the bluefin tuna is particularly good) & a handful of meat & fish teriyaki & yakitori. The drinks list is equally succinct: five sakés alongside Kirin & Asahi beers & a few New World wines. Sushi-making classes are held on weekends.
