The Box’s retro 90s decor makes a refreshing change from the camp fussiness of other gay bars. This pillar of the gay community continues to pack ’em in – or out, when windows fold back & the action spills onto the pavement. Grub is of the American all-day grazing variety: burgers, clubs & Caesar salads. A short list has wines from £12, Champagne from £30 & a range of spirits, but beer is still the drink of choice. When we last looked, the menu offered Staropramen, Leffe Blonde & Beck’s Vier on tap, as well as Stella Aortas (sic) – a comical typo that we hadn’t the heart to point out.
