Square Meal review of Friendly Society:
Owned by the same people as Shoreditch’s Commercial Tavern, Friendly Society is a funky, all-embracing gay bar that is also woman friendly, filled with mashed-up furniture & 1950s-style patterned wallpaper. Cruzcampo, its only lager, comes in two-pint jugs; wines start at £12.90; & the house cocktail is Spring Punch (vodka, lime, raspberries, Chambord & shampers top). Staff & service tends towards the eccentric & the camp bar is lined with Fairy Liquid bottles, but that’s all part of the charm.
