Grateful Cockfosters locals wonder how they lived without Dylan’s before it opened in 2005. It may be at the end of the Piccadilly line but the place would thrive equally well in central London: the cooking is dynamic, the service polished & the prices very fair. Warm ham hock fritters with soft-boiled duck egg & pea shoot salad might kick off a meal, preceding an arresting combination of grilled pollock, potato souffle, carrot & courgette ribbons, while the likes of grilled calf’s liver & streaky bacon with colcannon cater to more conservative tastes. With chic, uncluttered surroundings, an interesting global wine list, Sunday jazz & a great kid’s menu, all bases are more than covered.
