Yi-Ban

You can watch the planes of London City Airport take to the skies from your table at Yi-Ban, one of Docklands’s most highly regarded & off-the-beaten-track Chinese restaurants, which occupies the first floor of the London Regatta Centre. Well worth seeking out, the long slim restaurant has a bar at one end & a terrace running its entire length. The lunchtime crowds flock here for the dim sum – including slippery king prawn cheung fun & great snow pea dumplings. Chef’s specials include ngou lam bow, beef braised for several hours in a clay pot, or more intrepid diners can request the Chinese-language menu that is populated with less-westernised specialities. Private karaoke rooms are available & there’s jazz at the weekends.
