Square Meal review of Tea Palace:
Less of a palace & more of a temple to tea, this daytime-only shop & restaurant offers every kind of leaf & flavour imaginable, from a humble Builders Brew blend to a detox-du-jour white tea such as the evocatively named Jasmine Silver Needles. Afternoons, naturally, are the best time to sample what’s on offer from the 16-page tea selection, with a fruit-studded range of scones, cakes & tarts to accompany your cuppa, but the neatly dressed dining room also offers light, fashion-conscious lunches: think fillet of smoked trout followed by prawn & squid salad, tailor-made for the skinny Minnies from Westbourne Grove’s boutiques. The brunch menu, however, is far more fun – eggs Benedict, buttermilk pancakes, crumpets with honeycomb – & runs daily from 10am to 3pm.
