No mere anteroom to the restaurant, the darkly handsome bar at Bonds provides a dignified setting for the serious business of making & sipping cocktails. A cartoon-like artwork of a stick of dynamite provides some decorative fizz, the music is subdued enough to make conversation viable, & the customers tend to be as smart as the decor. The drinks are similarly elegant: classic bellinis, mojitos & daiquiris & a very creditable version of old fashioned made with Noah’s Mill bourbon, alongside creative mixes such as a rose mojito – fresh lime, white sugar & strawberry purée muddled over mint leaves & stirred with an infusion of dry rosebuds in Ketel One vodka. Food comprises a light menu of French artisan cheeses, sharing platters & classy tapas.
