Don’t come here expecting a great choice of beers – San Miguel on tap is about as exciting as it gets. No, the pull of this much-loved drinking den is more the retro music & open minded, celebratory spirit which revs up as the night wears on. DJs spin 70s, 80s & 90s classics & guilty-pleasures hits (remember Cutting Crew’s ‘I just died in your arms tonight’?), while the unashamedly kitsch decor is a hoot as well – fairy lights, pink plastic flamingos on the bar posts, a teddy-bear collection, deer antlers & a model horse’s head chewing a carrot. The volume climbs incrementally by the hour so it’s not a place for a quiet chat, but any place that ends the night rocking out to AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black’ gets our wholehearted support.
