This moody-chic place is yet another hangout joint for Hackney’s bohos, designers & media workers, who like to lounge before or after eating at the restaurant upstairs & ahead of checking out the cabaret room with its lip-synching drag queens. Chandeliers hang above the venerable mahogany bar, rescued from Otterburn Hall in Northumberland, dispensing bottled beers such as San Miguel, Kirin & Budvar, well-chosen French wines, & 12 properly mixed cocktails – classics including the Cosmopolitan, Margarita & Mojito, not to mention our old favourite, the Polish Martini. Just the thing to kickstart an evening.
