It’s a shame that E Bar can’t shake off its ‘hotel bar’ tag, because it has all the ingredients of a very decent neighbourhood hangout: great tapas, superb cocktails & lovely terrace overlooking rows of Edwardian houses. The fact that it’s hidden away in a basement certainly doesn’t help, but a lot of effort has gone into making it as appealing as possible & the staff will ensure that you have a good time. The food is certainly better than several of its nearby competitors: croquetas, chorizo & tortillas sit alongside light calamari, juicy lamb koftas & chicken tikka wings on the international tapas menu, while the two-course set deal offers the likes of figs & Parma ham followed by rib-eye steak for £14.50. Be sure to check out the cocktails – the Rospettina martini is excellent.
