Weng Wah House

Better known for its karaoke than its kung-po, Weng Wah House doesn’t take itself too seriously. A mixed bag of locals, tourists & the odd Chinese businessman clearly appreciate the tongue-in-cheek approach, eccentric staff & decent, safe cooking. Book into the top-floor dining room to wolf down tasty helpings of beef ho fun, Szechuan chicken & special fried rice between renditions of We Will Rock You & Cecilia. Alternatively, head downstairs for a less raucous time & plates of respectable dim sum, sweet & sour king prawns & honey roast pork. The wine list is commendable for a neighbourhood Chinese restaurant, with lots of grape varieties & the option of ordering half-bottles too.
