Hush? It's one of Mayfair's worst kept secrets – especially since its first-floor cocktail lounge underwent a wholesale makeover in 2012. Plush, comfortable and sophisticated in damson and truffle tones, it attracts an upmarket clientele – so Gossip Girls and WAGs are advised to pre-book its dinky ‘boudoir'. Lychee and watermelon appear among a selection of fruity bellinis, while violet goji liqueur-based purple rain is a prince among the Champagne cocktails. Martinis such as toffee, crème brúlée and true blood (Plantation dark rum, triple sec, chocolate liqueur, chilli and vanilla bitters) are sweet ideas – as is el fuerte (Patrón Añejo Tequila, Chartreuse, almond syrup and lychee). Numerous wines by the glass include a mighty Margaux (2007 Château d'Arsac Cru Bourgeois) at £17.25 – order it with Welsh rarebit, duck spring rolls and other evening bites.
