Momo’s little brother Mo is one of the best things about Heddon Street, a traffic-free epicurean oasis that feels a world away from Oxford Circus – more specifically, somewhere in North Africa. The pavement terrace is a jolly bazaar of low-slung divans, beaten brass tables & Berber fabrics, while the interior is like a Moroccan bazaar, where all the fittings are for sale & you can enjoy mezze platters, sweetmeats, mint tea infused with pine nuts or orange blossom or a Casablanca beer. The cocktails are exotic beauties that hint at the Maghreb: Malice (vodka, peach puree, creme de peche & guava juice) or Marrakech O’ Marrakech (Bacardi, mint & lemon juice topped with Pommery) are suitably Maroc ’n’ roll.
