A fresh lick of duck-egg blue & cream paint has given this gorgeously situated restaurant a ‘less dated, more inviting feel’, according to readers. Star billing, however, still goes to the view from Pissarro’s glassy orangery, taking in Chiswick pier & the leafy towpath beyond. Dishes on the monthly changing menu are of the modish, eclectic ilk, so start off with roast quail on wilted spinach or grilled tiger prawns with chilli & garlic, before embarking on duck breast with spelt salad or fish stew with bouillabaisse sauce. Desserts cater for all seasons, ranging from summery lemon posset to a cinnamon & ginger pudding that would warm the chilliest of riverside days. Although prices have raised a few eyebrows, Pissarro garners praise for its ‘really positive & welcoming atmosphere’ – & Oscar the cat has friends aplenty.
