Square Meal review of Pissarro:
This riverside restaurant is hard to get to &, with an exterior that resembles an Austrian chalet, doesn’t look very promising when you do. But once inside, the charm of the place asserts itself, helped along by a view of the river, best appreciated from a corker of a terrace. The menu’s ambition is mostly met by the kitchen’s ability. A starter of pan-fried scallops with cauliflower puree was given necessary contrast by an anchovy & pine nut salsa, while a gutsy dish of monkfish with lively chermoula marinade was lent softness by the addition of butter beans. The only letdown was a stodgy spring onion pancake that accompanied a delicately seared slice of foie gras. A decent global wine list encourages lingering lunches, as does the ‘lovely’ service.
