This cafe-cum-grocery store is a temple to good food rather than a restaurant as such, where diners wend their way past tables groaning with appetite-sharpening vegetables, breads & meats. It’s never short of customers, who pop in for breakfast (organic eggs with wild salmon, Somerset brie & salad, say) or stop by for lunch (try chicken with aubergine yoghurt & rice or an awesomely rich organic aubergine moussaka). The owners really care about their products, a good many of which are English & organic, & are more than happy to share their enthusiasm. There’s no licence, but plenty of choice of right-on drinks, from great combos of juices – carrot, beetroot, apples & ginger gets our vote – to soya milkshakes. A great place to feel good about yourself without making a big dent in your wallet.
