Madhu's

Set over two floors on an otherwise nondescript shopping parade, Madhu’s is one of Southall’s sleekest restaurants. It has a long pedigree, established in 1980 by a branch of the Kenyan/Asian Anand family, who also run a thriving catering & banqueting business. Behind its shiny, tinted-glass panels, the interior blends black floor tiles with starched white table linen – a fitting setting in which to sample high-class Indian cookery. There’s ample provision for vegetarians on the long menu, with starters of, say, pilli pilli boga (tempura-style vegetables fried in crisp batter) giving way to more substantial offerings such as slow-baked baby aubergines stuffed with potato. Others might choose battered spicy tilapia fish from Kenya’s Lake Victoria, followed by a chicken & fenugreek curry. Shahi tukra (Indian bread & butter pudding) brings proceedings to a sweet conclusion.
