Square Meal review of Tiroler Hut:
Austrian wine might be currently fashionable – & there’s a handful on the wine list here – but there’s nothing remotely trendy about this 41-year-old shrine to all things Alpine, where steins of lager & shots of schnapps are the drink of choice to go with the party atmosphere. There’s plenty of hearty food on offer to soak up the booze – Wiener schnitzel, stews, sauerkrauts & Sachertorte – which, like the alcohol, is all reasonably priced. But most don’t really notice what they’re eating: the highlight of an evening here is the Singalong-a-Cowbell-Show, conducted by staff wearing lederhosen & loden jackets. All in all, cheaper than a stag night to Klagenfurt.
