Square Meal review of Guesthouse West:
The bar of a boutique hotel, Guesthouse West is very much a summer venue for non-residents on account of its large, decked terrace, which is a prime spot for people-watching under the shade of a parasol. The drinks – martinis & mojitos – are nothing too unusual, except for being slightly more keenly priced than elsewhere in the locale, while the menu of salads & sandwiches won’t win any awards with its somewhat room-servicey feel. Which means that when the sun isn’t shining, there’s little to entice punters over the threshold unless they’re spending the night here: the battered leather sofas & big, retro posters feel very formulaic & the bar has the air of a waiting area for guests en route to their rooms.
