Mr Fish

Fish & chips might be undergoing an upmarket re-branding thanks to the likes of Geales & Tom’s Place but, while the kitschy pastel colours of Mr Fish’s 1950s-style dining room might be pitched at hipsters, this is effectively an old-fashioned & honestly priced chippy, a fact attested to by the takeaway at the front of the restaurant. And very good it all is too, from cod, haddock, huss & sole to skate, scampi, sea bass & plaice – battered, bread-crumbed, grilled or poached from a mix & match menu. Whatever you go for, don’t forget a side order of the gloriously thick mushy peas. The £6.25 lunchtime offer is hard to beat, while kids’ meals at £3.25 make Mr Fish a friendly choice for families.
