We can’t help feeling that something of the original intimacy has been lost in the recent expansion from one cosy room with a handful of tables through to a corridor-like extension & heated patio. But the doubling of seating capacity does insure more people can enjoy Number 22’s fresh, well-conceived tapas. Simple, flavoursome dishes on the regularly changing menu might include crispy squid, an excellent assortment of Spanish cold meats & a fab seafood paella for two, brought steaming to the table in its pan. The concise, fairly priced wine has suffered no expansion & service remains as friendly as ever, even as the wait between courses has been stretched.
