The ol' piano may be long gone, but a Rat Pack vibe lives on at this aptly named all-day brasserie with its wood-panelled surrounds, ceiling fans and impressive cocktail bar. Thirty years on, Crystal Palace locals still seek comfort in well-sourced steaks and ever-popular Aberdeen Angus burgers, but there's plenty to pique the interest of more adventurous diners. Beetroot carpaccio with goats' cheese fritters is a winning combination, as is confit leg and loin of rabbit with creamed peas and crispy pancetta. The off-peak menu (£16.95 for three courses) includes nostalgic hits such as fried brie, cottage pie and cheesecake, while daily breakfasts bring a dose of stateside indulgence in the shape of buttermilk pancakes and maple syrup, alongside bacon sarnies and English muffins. Drinks include some of the best vodka-espresso shots in SE19.
