Amid a parade of nondescript shops in Herne Hill, this little slice of South-East Asia profits from the timeless appeal of a warm atmosphere, gracious, smiling staff & ridiculously low prices. OK, so the food is not the most refined or memorable & the breathing space between tables is nil, but when you’re in the mood for spring rolls, prawns in filo pastry, Singapore noodles or a feisty Thai curry, chased down with a chilled white wine, it hits the spot. Don’t forget to book as Lombok’s affability & affordability mean it’s perennially packed.
