Luigi's

The name may have changed slightly (it was previously called Still Luigi’s), but this pleasant trattoria, by a busy roundabout downhill from Gipsy Hill station, retains a menu as chaotic & crowded as it’s always been. Smartly turned out staff are able to cope with any situation, although customers are mainly treading a well-worn path towards their favourite avocado alla Luigi or penne alla siciliana. The decor is dominated by potted plants & offbeat 1980s-style foodie collage art, with onions apparently applied willy-nilly to ordinary scenes. Achingly hip poseurs & regional Italian food snobs are unlikely to be seen at Luigi’s, leaving all the more zucchini fritti for the rest of us.
