Floridita Bar

Named after the Havana bar that created the Daiquiri, Floridita devotes a whole room to rum’s raison d’etre. Salon Rojo (a seriously red cubbyhole) offers Ernest Hemingway’s preferred aqua vita in myriad forms: Rose, Camomile or Rhubarb & Vanilla Daiquiri are all good. But the heart of the action is the chunky timber bar overlooking a dance floor where uptown girls & their caballeros get down to mambo rhythms. Musicians recreate the Buena Vista Social Club sound while you work through a cocktail list of Latin & international classics that includes tobacco-infused drinks for deprived smokers. Castro would be disheartened by the prices aimed squarely at the sort of capitalists who frequent such five-star playgrounds.
