Built on the site of a former garage, Refuel is a popular pit stop for a racy crowd of Paul Smith suits, celebs & stylistas – Kelly Brook, Will Young & William H Macy have been known to pop in. Order 1919 with its muddle of fig & peppercorns, bitters, Mandarine Napoléon, apple juice & lime; otherwise, jaunty mixes such as passion & ginger caipirinha or the Italian Job (a tangy fruity Campari & limoncello sling) are worth their £11 price tag. Afternoon tea & east-meets-west tapas (think scallop burger with guacamole & sweet chilli sauce, lamb ‘hash’ with hollandaise) keep the high-octane customers’ engines ticking over nicely in this art-deco-revisited space dominated by a Titanic zinc bar & a Wacky Races-style mural.
