Henry J Beans has been serving its all-American dream to young fun-seekers, herds of tourists & Chelsea families since 1984. The food side of the operation holds sway during the week, when a snacky, shareable menu brings nachos, ‘kick ass’ & ‘wise guy’ burgers, ‘rackin’ ribs, & everything-but-the-kitchen-sink desserts. Soft drinks include root beer & coke floats, while the wine list offers several low-alcohol options. At weekends, it’s all about partying: sweet & fruity cocktails are geared to student excess, with waves of cherry zombies & screaming orgasms consumed loudly in the saloon-style bar area come happy hour. However, HJB’s best asset is outside – a huge, sheltered garden & terrace (complete with heaters & a fully functioning tiled fountain) that gets packed with revellers on balmy days.
