Sleek & glass-fronted, this spacious Davy’s outpost reduces the chain’s trademark Victoriana to a garnish, for the overall impression is of stylish & efficient modernity. The outside terrace is undoubtedly the place to be in fine weather; inside, there’s pew-like seating at the window, where you might tuck into a hot or cold sandwich or a bowl of fusilli pasta with sunblush Mediterranean vegetables & red pesto. The more formal dining area is the place to lunch on corn-fed chicken breast served on a bed of salad. The wine list has Francophile tendencies but makes room for other producers & includes a classy, dry 2005 Rudesheimer Riesling Kabinett from Johannes Leitz.
