Sitting in the middle of Lincoln’s Inn Fields, The Terrace is a delightfully bright & airy eatery that feels miles away from the hubbub of nearby High Holborn. Watch the park life & listen to the gentle thwack of tennis balls from the adjoining courts (the restaurant was once a clubhouse), while perusing a menu that combines modern European flavours with a taste of the Caribbean. Start with pan-roasted scallops with fresh mango salsa or fried duck egg with sautéed girolles & pancetta, before moving on to jerk chicken with herb mash & jerk sauce or confit duck with green lentils & red wine jus. Passion-fruit crème brûlée or mango & apple crumble might tempt for dessert, all washed down with a bottle from the short, interesting & sub-£30 wine list. There’s a set menu (three courses for £20), and to top it off, friendly service.
