Square Meal review of Green & Red:
There’s a fiesta spirit at Green & Red, where the wide selection of Tequila cocktails are just as important as the food, which takes inspiration from the cuisine of Mexico’s Jalisco region, home of Tequila. Starters of powerfully flavoured octopus ceviche with chilli, coriander & lime, & a zingy salad with strips of crunchy jicama (somewhere between cucumber & apple) really impress. Big-portioned main courses, such as roast hake with roast onion & pasilla chilli salsa excite less, while accompaniments of refried beans & corn tortillas are pretty bog-standard. The basement bar is the place for a mean Watermelon Margarita & it comes alive at weekends when an up-for-it City crowd descends. There’s the occasional grumble over service, but our experiences have always been thoroughly positive.
