Huge windows & acres of matching grained woods give this clean-lined hotel restaurant the air of some ineffably tasteful seaside pavilion, though the view from its sheltered terrace is not of dunes but of a tranquil garden square. The food is as contemporary as the setting: try the baked beetroot with pickled walnuts, cucumber & crème fraîche before a heritage tomato salad with octopus, pesto & basil shoots; trout fillets with peas, black pudding & baby gem lettuce; or a 28-day aged rib-eye with chips, watercress & béarnaise. The wine list rounds up an eclectic & affordable selection from around the globe, with helpful tasting notes & a few half-bottles. It feels agreeably airy when full, but Addendum’s chic austerity can make it seem a little chilly at low ebb.
