Sam's continuing popularity is partly down to listening to its customers and providing what they want – the latest additions being a takeaway lunch menu and a summer salad/juice bar. Otherwise, this is a ‘reliable and safe choice' for some very decent food, whether you are looking for fish (deep-fried squid, steamed mussels, roast cod with New England clam chowder) or meaty bistro favourites such as steaks, burgers or grilled pork chop with black-pudding hash. Breakfast, brunch, kids' menus, bar snacks and early-bird deals are also popular, but Sam's really comes into its own later on, when ‘amazing' cocktails and ‘well-priced' wines keep the crowds lubricated. Just add some ‘cool ambience' and live jazz/soul music at the weekend, and it's easy to see why this is the ‘perfect local' for many Chiswick good-timers.

The mezzanine floor is for dinners for 18 to 26 people, open Monday-Friday for lunch and dinner Sunday-Thursday. The whole restaurant and bar can also be hired for exclusive use on Sunday and Monday evenings throughout the year. The restaurant can host everything from corporate events to wedding receptions and birthday celebrations. The head chef, Ian Leckie, works closely with the guests to design a bespoke menu which can be as diverse as drinks and canapés or full 3 course dinners.
