Readers are relentless in their praise for this bustling, modern eatery, describing its fish as ‘the freshest in London’, its prices as ‘great value for money’, its staff as ‘friendly’ & its food as ‘gorgeous’. We agree, but also note that this is a canteen-like brasserie with the decibels to match, & though the food is fine, it’s exceptional only in that so many other restaurants manage to disappoint with the same simple dishes as buffalo mozzarella & vine-ripened tomatoes, grilled sardines with gremolata, & eggs Benedict. The eponymous Sam Harrison is often there to keep staff on their toes, while Rick Stein’s part-ownership helps guarantee the freshness of the fish. This may not be a place to make a special journey to, but anyone based in Chiswick & around should make it a home from home. A nice touch sees kids entertained with toys, books & the like at weekends.
