Square Meal review of Fire & Stone:
Pizza purists beware: you won’t find an average pepperoni or margherita at this highly experimental pizzeria. Impressive in design, the two-storey, industrial-style space features a conical, floor-to-ceiling pizza oven & bright orange leather seating. Drawing inspiration from all corners of the world, pizzas include the Acapulco topped with chilli beef & jalapenos, or a tandoori chicken & spiced mango chutney Bombay. But interesting though it sounds on paper, reports of ‘stodginess’, ‘greasiness’ & ‘utter blandness’ make it all seem a bit gimmicky. At least it doesn’t cost much to try: the £5 lunch deal includes a pizza or salad with a bottle of beer or glass of wine or soft drink.
