Square Meal review of Atma:
You wouldn’t expect to see a contemporary spin on south Indian cooking on this dull stretch of Finchley Road, but that’s just what Atma offers, with largely positive results. Highlights include a palate-punching seafood cake with discernible flavours of squid, prawn, fish & crab & a multitude of spices. Tender lamb chops crusted with coriander seed have a superb smoky taste, while corn-fed chicken simmered in smoked tomato fenugreek sauce & accompanied with a refreshing raita ice-cream, is equally tantalising. Rice & breads are good, while desserts such as homemade fig & ginger ice-cream are not to be missed. The restrained interior of rust-coloured walls & white linen tablecloths is handsome & inviting.
