A trailblazer on the Mexican street-food scene, Tom Conran’s diminutive lounge/diner has been around for more than a decade & still delivers the spicy goods for Notting Hill locals & a thriving community of American expats. Tacos, quesadillas, burritos & enchiladas are perhaps not as authentic as they might be, but the small basement dining area fills up quickly & tables are at a premium. The ground-floor bar’s kitsch excesses may not appeal to everyone (note the display case of plastic ephemera & the ceiling-mounted Anglepoise ‘arachnid’), but the range of 150-plus Tequilas surely will. Sip an aged Patrón as a digestif, pick from the eight-strong list of margaritas, & finish with churros & a pot of chocolate sauce for dipping – plus a Tequila-infused chilled coffee.
