We’ve heard it said that London has more French residents than Bordeaux these days…incroyable! So if you’re a homesick expat or a Francophile without a Eurostar reservation, Bellamy’s might be just the ticket. Inside, it has all the standard-issue bistro garb, right down to the banquette seating, prints, posters and mirrors, while the menu is an unthreatening array of classically minded dishes. Smoked eel mousse and foie gras terrine are joined by a few incomers such as tuna sashimi, but it’s all good stuff. Follow on with roast saddle of rabbit ‘au thym’, grilled calf’s liver or sautéed skate meunière, but make sure to leave room for one of the classic desserts such as îles flottante or peach Melba. The wine list is as Gallic as the Tour Eiffel, while the set-up also includes a new Bar in place of the original provisions shop.
