The Bruton Place entrance through an upmarket deli gives you some hint of the quality ingredients on offer in Bellamy’s restaurant, & the distinctly à la mode brasserie menu doesn’t disappoint. Following on from openers of smoked eel mousse, gravadlax or Black Forest ham & figs, there are assorted salads, & fish & meat mains delivered with minimal fuss: fillet of lemon sole with olive oil & lemon, veal paillard with girolles, sliced entrecôte of beef with chips. Daily specials are also worth checking out. The sophisticated air of the dining room reflects the restaurant’s intrinsic class: its smart, open-plan space is framed by a cocktail bar lit with pastel colours & its front, light-filled tables overlook the busy lane. Prices, meanwhile, reflect the wealthy, pukka clientele more than any concern for good value. That said, no one denies the price/quality ratio is anything but fair.
