There’s something rather therapeutic, not to say exciting, about the smell & sound of your dinner sizzling at your table, & that’s just what happens at Jin, one of Soho’s most attractive Korean restaurants. Cream walls, dark leather banquettes & tall chairs provide a calm, contemporary feel, while sweet staff cook your choice of meat, poultry or seafood on a hotplate built in to your table. The rest of the menu includes shark’s fin soup, fiery kimchi with pork & bean curd, pancakes, dumplings, & fried rice, but it’s rather confusingly laid out, so if you’re new to Korean food, ask the friendly manager to explain anything unclear & make recommendations. There’s a decent house wine on the brief list, plus soju (a potato-based Korean spirit), teas, & whiskies by the bottle – for groups, we hope.
