The word parlour stems from the French, parler, to talk: here, that will be anything from brainstorming your latest catwalk creations, a pop video you’re shooting, or Perez Hilton’s latest goss on Brangelina. The bar at the front of the townhouse occupied by Sketch is a witty, idiosyncratic den, with dark wood panels, bijou furniture & quirky details such as a chandelier fashioned from Anglepoise lamps. Drinks are similarly twisted but standards are never eccentric: The Maximillian (Smirnoff Penka, acacia honey & orange & white peppercorns) & a Rumbassador (barrel-aged rum, cardamom & freshly pressed pineapple) are typically enticing calls from a selection that starts at £9.50. Kasteel Cru, a dozen wines, & a cracking range of spirits are also available, while a range of savoury & sweet bites are almost as much fun as Sketch’s doolally ‘egg-loos’ – visit them regardless of whether you need to.
