Established in 1729 and a 300-year-old fixture of the Broadway Market scene before closing in 2013, this local legend has recently re-launched under the aegis of new owner Tom Gibson (from Ruby's in Dalston). Downstairs is a vintage boozer with enamelled mirrors, a long bar stretching the length of the room, local draught ales and a superior spirits selection. Upstairs is given over to Pearl’s – a cocktail bar in similar style, dispensing the likes of pearly queen (a lychee and lemongrass-infused take in piña colada). Street-food hero Ben Denner and his Licky Chops are responsible for the food in both pub and the bar: expect trendy riffs ranging from burnt broccoli with yoghurt and pickled mustard seeds to a bucket of mutton chops with bean salad, mash and mint sauce, rounded off with churros and cappuccinos.
