Square Meal review of Menier Chocolate Factory:
While Menier’s main function is as a fringe theatre, its small restaurant is just as big a draw. This ‘terrific little venue’ is a ‘great place to go & have a slow lunch – they never rush you’. The chilled vibe is enhanced by the New York-style decor, the keen-to-please staff & the concise menu. A pretty, pale-green bowl of almond & green tomato gazpacho was refreshing while an epic portion of sirloin steak was incredibly tender – evidence of intelligent maturation – & the block-sized chips were crispy on the outside & fluffy within. If you can, have a pud as well – inevitably, given the location, there’s always a chocolate option. Another bonus: for this level of quality, prices are thoroughly reasonable.
