Menier Chocolate Factory

Menier’s main function is as a fringe theatre, but its restaurant also plays to a receptive audience of locals & theatre-goers. Crowd-pleasing menus are designed to tie in with current productions, always with a shorter pre-show version available – though if you’re in a real hurry opt for one of the generous sharing platters. A meal here might start with zucchini & feta fritter with peperonata & mixed leaves, followed by an 8oz porterhouse steak with garlic butter, spring salad & hand-cut chips or Scottish salmon fillet with olive oil mash, salsa verde & a roasted Mediterranean vegetable salad. Happily, as you’d expect from a joint that used to be a chocolate factory, there’s always a choc option among the desserts. Friendly staff help to create a welcoming, laid-back vibe & the candlelit interior is particularly cosy in the winter months.
