With newly opened Trenta directly opposite & Stuzzico round the corner, Arturo is by no means the only Italian to choose from in chi-chi Connaught village. But after four years of trading, this stylish neighbourhood restaurant is obviously doing something right. Indeed, some proclaim it to be among their ‘all-time favourite’ restaurants. Partly its popularity is down to the modish dining room, with its soft lighting, wooden floors & light, airy conservatory room at the back. Another factor is the imaginative Italian cooking, which adds a twist to traditional favourites. Seared scallops come with a beetroot tartare, while grilled swordfish is accompanied by a spelt salad with fried capers. There’s also a good-value set menu at lunch, early evenings & all night on Sunday & Monday. The all-Italian wine list goes way beyond Chianti & Soave, with helpful notes for the uninitiated.
