Square Meal review of Floridita:

Anyone who’s been to Cuba knows that the food is not much to write home about, which is why this glitzy homage to the island focuses on great drinks & a lively vibe instead. Taking its name, colour palette & knock-out daiquiris from the Havana bar frequented by Ernest Hemingway, this cavernous basement has a 1950s nightclub feel, with sofas, chairs & tables facing a stage where Cuban bands play lively sets after 9pm. The food, which also displays influences from Latin America & Spain, is actually not bad, but it won’t knock your socks off: there’s zingy snapper ceviche, spit-roast suckling pig & a very decent Argentinian steak. ‘Snotty’ & often ‘slow’ service can disappoint, but for a hedonistic night out with friends, Floridita is perfect. More conservative diners should be aware of the high noise levels. Note that a ‘music charge’ is levied after 7.30pm.
