Paternoster Chop House

It’s a wonder that this branch of the D&D group doesn’t issue a map of the British Isles with the menu, given the amount of detail it provides about producers & ingredients. Order sea trout with pickled cucumber, or pollock with cockles & samphire, & you’ll discover that the fish was caught in Cornwall by a certain Chris Bean; the menu even gives his boat a name-check. Meat is butchered in-house, allowing for more unusual cuts such as grilled Galloway ox heart & liver, while the ‘beast of the day’ is a regularly changing slab of roasted meat. This ‘best of British’ approach is perfectly pitched for the corporate clientele, who are drawn in by the set menu (two/three courses for £19.50/24.50) & linger over the excellent wine list. The side bar & terrace, with views of St Paul’s, are popular spots for an after-work tipple.
