Square Meal review of Le Vacherin: 
Busy & buzzy, with locals using it as a home from home, this precocious brasserie has the feel of a happening haunt that has been part of the Acton/Chiswick scene for years. With its off-the-peg French bistro fit-out, there’s no need to guess the style of the food: chef-proprietor Malcolm John is thankfully keener on keeping the place full of happy punters eating what they want than trying his hand at anything too elaborate. The resulting menu includes ‘superb’ signature baked vacherin with almonds & truffles to plain, fresh oysters, garlicky snails & a warm salad of scallops, blood pudding & bacon among starters & grilled fish, steaks & an obligatory cassoulet to follow. Service can be ‘stretched’ at busy periods but it’s friendly enough – canny locals retain a copy of the well-priced, all-French wine list to order a little something to get them through the spare minutes between courses.
