Part of a boutique hotel overlooking cobbled St John Square, The Zetter underwent a few changes during 2009, with a new entrance on Clerkenwell Road separate from the hotel. The bright, spacious feel remains, thanks to immense windows that sweep the length of the building, & rough whitewashed walls with Miró-style murals. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner, with brunch & a grill menu at the weekends, this is a relaxing spot to idle away a few hours. Expect to pay for the pleasure: tuna with seared scallops is a hefty £18.50 (with side orders extra), while £14.50 for Milanese sardines seems excessive. Better value can be had from the set lunch (£15/18 for two/three courses, including coffee). Entertaining touches include a French magician on the first Thursday night of every month & a live jazz band on Sundays.
